Bob, you need a blower motor resistor. Sometimes the connector melts @ the resistor so check it good.

Hey jeeptech do you have any used Cherokee gas tanks that would fit a 1990 XJ?

Chris, do you have speedo gears? I need a 28 tooth grear. 2005 TJ 3.73 gears, 6 speed manual 36" TSLs. I have a 34 in there now, tried a buddies 30 tooth from his 99 and the gear was a lot smaller. Should It be the same diameter just different tooth count? also do I need to change the spiral gear that sits on the t-case output shaft?

You need to rotate the sending unit in the hole (thats why the speedo gear is not centered in it) depending on the size gear. The older housings have tooth counts stamped into the plastic for reference.

So rotating it will push it further in to allow it to still contact the gear inside the tcase?

I will look for the 28 tooth and let you know. The housing has a # range cast into it and the speedo gear has a # on the under side. both # have to match up and you rotate the housing to lineup the #'s. Chris.

chris, any luck on the 28 tooth speedo gear? I got the 30 to work, figured out the housing with Krome but its still off by about 5 mph on the highway. Also Im looking for a Downpipe/dual cat setup for a 2005 TJ 4.0. I had a check engine light with code 431 bad catalyst warmup, thought it was the leak I had, fixed that, code came back, replaced both O2 sensors on that bank, light came back. Next step is the cats I guess.

Sorry, I didn't look yet for the gear, I will get on it. I Don't have A cat/headpipe. I have one for a Cherokee, but it is different it could be modified. That pipe is under warranty for 8 yrs- 80Kmi. Are you still under that?

I am still under powertrain (approx 53K on it now) had the cats and O2 sensors replaced under warranty at 30K because of an engine code. Problem came back at around 42K. I was told that becuase of my aftermarket exhaust (glass pack after the 3rd cat, now aftermarket cat and flowmaster muffler) The exhuast will no longer be covered. According to the dealership my modifications to the exhaust has caused the problems. Is there a way I can fight them on that or do they have a good argument against me?

jj is talking about the two cats on the exhaust manifold, the bank 2 cat is failing. not the 3rd converter that he just replaced due to space of high clearance exhaust. figured id clear it up, those upper cats are factory so SHOULD still be covered, but dealerships love the drama

thanks Krome, the parts guy at the local dealership even said that theres no reason for them to not cover the small cats. Maybe a visit with the owner will help.

federal emission vehicle don't have the third cat. So I don't know how the performance exhaust wii cause a failure. Only A restriction would cause a failure in the cats.
