this is the longest I have not spent my money Wink waiting for labor day deals before purchasing - so I thought if I found a good deal I might post it here. I dont need this - but some of you might...

i have that kit.  the jack is small but does the job most times. and all the jackstands are good for are proping up my pinions.  but worth it for the price.  mitch, get a nice and big racing jack and you will never worry about your jack ever again.  i wish i had one....

This stuff doesn't happen to me often, so I am compelled to post about itz!

my local sears had a 283 piece set returned to them on clearance. Store price was $400. Sale price was 199. Its like the top of a 3 piece tool box. I saw it there last week, so I told the guy I would buy it if he lowered the price... Didn't expect much BUT the took 40 more off it!!! Got it for 160!! It has 7/8 wrenches, 1 1/4 1/2" sockets, all the deep sockets in between!! Amazing set. I had 200 in gift cards so I got a nice wire stripper, a set of cresent wrenches and a 7 piece set of pliers, dikes, cutters as well. I finally have a nice set of tools and I am stoked like a kid at christmas time!

A good torx set. Not the cheap Lisle ones but if you have a friend that is a mechanic, ask him to pick up a set from Snap-on, Mac or any of the 4 tool distributors we have. Sure they are expensive but you won't be sorry when your flat on your back out in the boonies trying to pull off an impossible repair to get back home.

How's your hammer collection?

If you ever open up a t-case then a good set of retaining ring pliers is indispensible. Got mine at Sears for like $15 but they are not Craftsman. Another "tool" purchase I really liked was a decent OBD scanner.

I never thought I'd need a set of picks for anything but I have used them 5 or so times in the past few months.  cheap tool to have but handy as hell if you ever have a need for them

You don't need to buy picks if you visit a dental hygienist. I renew my supply of dental picks every 6 months if need be. Their stronger then a mechanic's pick and has good balance, plus their free.

Side note: always wear eye protection when using any small picks.

what do you do just ask them for their old picks?  I thought they sterilized them and reused them?

mitch, do you have a decent tool box?  i've found that having a place for every tool to be put away cuts down on loosing tools.  it also speeds up the time it takes to find my tools because now i know where they all are
